The Cowboys Are Reportedly Signing A Veteran Kicker

On Monday, the Dallas Cowboys practiced multiple kickers and now have a familiar face.

According to reports, the Cowboys will be bringing back Brett Maher. He played in 29 games in 2018-19 for them and most recently, played for the New Orleans Saints.

Rookie Jonathan Garibay was reportedly released. Maher will now have to compete with Lirim Hajrullahu in the race for the job.

The Cowboys chose JJ Molson, Cole Murphy and Matt Ammendola to be their kickers on Monday.

In his two seasons with Cowboys, Maher converted 49 of 66 field goals and 68 of 69 extra points. In eight games in New Orleans, Maher scored 16 of 18 field goals and 10 of 12 extra points.

Hajrullahu also appeared in three games last year for the Carolina Panthers, and one for Dallas Cowboys. He was a perfect 8 for 8, with extra points, and made 4 of 5 field goal attempts.

Dallas now has a kicker opening after it released veteran Greg Zuerlein earlier this offseason. Zuerlein was the leader in scoring the team’s last two seasons.
