- Report: Dak Prescott Expected to Become One Of NFL’s Highest-Paid QBs
by newsll
Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott will soon enter the final year of his contract. However, he could get a new one sooner rather than later.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported over the weekend that the Cowboys would begin working on a contract that "should make (Prescott) once again one of the highest paid quarterbacks in NFL".
Prescott's cap, currently set at 60 million dollars for 2024, is the reason why Dallas feels compelled to sign a new contract. Dallas will not be able to engage in free agency if they don't lower that number by extending the contract.
Rapoport said that Rapoport expects the Cowboys to make a deal with Dak Prescott in some shape or form before the Cowboys' free agency. He can't be tagged in the off-season, as he is entering the final year of the contract. So a deal must be made for Dallas.
Prescott is enjoying a great season financially, after having one of his best seasons in eight years.

The big money will increase the pressure for the three-time Pro Bowler. Prescott has been blamed by many Cowboys fans for the Cowboys' latest postseason failure.
After the team's loss in the playoffs, even Dak's own brother posted on social media that he wished Dak would leave America’s Team.
Tad Prescott wrote: "Cowboy Fans, why do you keep DMing me? TRUST ME. If I could convince Dak to leave Dallas, I would." "I also want him to leave Dallas." He and his family have had a great experience with the city and the organization, but they are done with drama, and so-called fans. But he loves this Team, and wants it to win rings.
Rapaport's information suggests that he will have at least some more chances to win a ring in the Cowboys' organization.
- Michael Irvin Wants Cowboys To Sign Star Free Agent Running Back
by newsll
Dallas Cowboys Legend Michael Irvin would do anything to help his team win another championship. He believes that the Cowboys must do everything they can to sign a particular running back.
Irvin argued on Undisputed that the Cowboys sign Tennessee Titans runner Derrick Henry during the offseason. Irvin believes Henry isn't getting the respect he should in Nashville, and that he would be treated better in Dallas.
"Derrick Henry can get them back! Derrick Henry hasn't gotten the love that he deserves. Come on over. Put that star on your helmet, buddy, and let us show you that kind of love. Let's see Derrick Henry get 2,000 yards for the Dallas Cowboys," Irvin said.
Irvin’s colleague Keyshawn argued against Irvin’s claim, saying that Henry would never reach 2,000 yards as he would have to take touches away from Dak Prescott who was throwing the ball.
Henry just completed his sixth consecutive season of over 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns. In 2023, he was also the league's leading rusher for the fourth time in the last five years.
Henry has also recently turned 30, an age when most running backs are at their limit, especially after accumulating as many carries over the years as Henry.
If the Cowboys signed Henry, it is worth wondering how effective he will be.
Should Dallas sign Henry no matter what the cost?
- ESPN Insider Believes Dak Prescott Could Be In Final Season With Cowboys
by newsll
Dak Prescott is one of the most successful regular seasons QB in 2023. It wasn't quite enough to propel the Dallas Cowboys into postseason glory.
Prescott is now entering the final year on the four-year extension worth $160 million he signed in 2020. This raises questions about his future with the Cowboys.
Dan Graziano, ESPN's Dan Graziano said on Get up today that it is possible we will see Prescott play with a different team in 2025.
https://twitter.com/GetUpESPN/status/1752706333865038283?s=20
Jerry Jones , the owner of Dallas, was asked about Prescott's long-term contract. He declined to sign the three-time Pro Bowler, saying that the team will take a "holistic" approach to the off-season.
Clarence Hill Jr., a longtime Cowboys writer and beat reporter, called Jones's next offering "a confusing ditty."
"Dak has done nothing to change my mind about any promise for the future," Jones said. "I think I've said that we will go as far as Dak takes us in the playoffs. Remember that. We will go as far as Dak takes us. And that is how far we went. That doesn't change a thing. We'll go as far as Dak takes us."

Prescott's Cowboys have lost the Wild Card round for the second time in 3 years. This has led to criticism from outside, and even the quarterbacks brother said that he would be better off in a different organization.
- Micah Parsons Names Biggest Need For The Dallas Cowboys Defense
by newsll
Micah Parsons, Cowboys' star, knows that Jerry Jones is going "all in" for the 2024 season. This means he will go out and get the players "we are missing".
The 24-year-old All-Pro revealed what he said to Dallas' owner during a recent "The Stephen A. Smith show."
Parsons explains, "I said I would look at each team in the final four." Who did they have?" San Francisco, Detroit. Baltimore had who? Who was San Fran's linebacking group? San Francisco had a great linebacking corps, right? Great linebacking corp. K.C. "Nick Bolton and the others came along."
"I said we need to get us another bigger linebacker who's gonna come down — I said we need to get a super, 330 nasty interior. ... I think we've got a lot of rushers. I think Osa [Odighizuwa], he can play inside, outside, one of the most versatile DTs. When we lost [Johnathan Hankins], he's a big dude, but we need to get one of them big old, nasty, pass-rushing, get-going [guys]."
Micah stated that his conversation with Jones "was about players I wanted to bring in, around me, what do I need, with whom do I want, the future of our team."
In his first three years, the former 12th pick made it to each Pro Bowl and was a first-team All-Pro two times.
It will be interesting to watch what the Boys do with the defensive side of the ball, now that Mike Zimmer has returned to the team.
- Three Veteran Quarterbacks Named Options For Cowboys In 2024
by newsll
Dak Prescott is unquestionably the Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback by 2024 and most likely beyond.
Dallas may look to improve its depth in 2023, when it consisted of Cooper Rush, a veteran, and Trey Lance, the 3rd overall pick in the draft.
Patrik Walker, DallasCowboys.com, has identified three potential free agents who could be Prescott's backup.
Walker's first suggestion was Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill will be 36 in the summer, and expects him to attract interest among other teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Walker wrote: "An evaluation of Tannehill could be worthwhile in terms of being a possible upgrade for Rush. It would also provide insurance in case Lance does not progress as the Cowboys hope, when they are ramping up their development QB program." The fact that I am even interested in this suggests there may be something to consider.
Gardner Minshew was the next player to be named. He threw 3,305 yards with 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions for the Indianapolis Colts over 17 games (13 starting).
Walker stated that "This is a good balance between age and experience because The Mustache, who will be 28 when the season begins in 2024, has also made 37 regular-season starts since he entered the league in 2019. None of the quarterbacks above can claim this," Walker added.
Jacoby Brissett was last but not least. He spent the past season with the Washington Commands in the NFC East. Walker believes that Brissett, because of his similarity to Prescott's play style, "could possibly be more plug and play than anyone else except perhaps Lance."
Rush played in seven Cowboys regular-season games in 2023. He completed 18-of-24 pass attempts for 144 yard and one interception.
Lance was not used in any games after being acquired by the San Francisco 49ers as part of a preseason deal.
- Jerry Jones Appears To Have Already Made Decision On Mike McCarthy
by newsll
NFL fans assumed that Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy was going to be fired this season. Although that was true, it now sounds as though his job is safe.
Jerry Jones, on 105.3 The Fan, praised his coaching staff despite the Cowboys' humiliation by the Bills last Sunday.
Jones has been so complimentary about McCarthy's coaching that it is hard to imagine him changing the coaching staff, even if Cowboys lose in the playoffs.
"He's coached three playoff teams in a row. I think he's done an outstanding job," Jones said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. "I frankly said to the staff yesterday, 'You got us in this spot to be as disappointed as we are about the Buffalo game. It's your fault because y'all have done such a great job this year getting our team to have the expectations that we have.' Part of the best part of our team this year has been the coaching staff."
https://twitter.com/jonmachota/status/1737124763842007382?s=20
McCarthy won 40 games since becoming the Cowboys' head coach in 2020.
Dallas has now qualified for the playoffs three seasons in a row, despite the loss last weekend. Most franchises would be proud of that achievement.
On Christmas Eve, the Cowboys and Dolphins will meet.
- Cowboys Wide Receiver Not Practicing With Shoulder Issue
by newsll
The Dallas Cowboys have added wide receiver Martavis to their practice squad at the perfect time, as one of the receivers currently on their 53-man roster has an injury.
Todd Archer of ESPN Cowboys reports that wide receiver KaVontae Turpin will not be practicing today because he has rib and shoulder issues. Turpin, the Cowboys has not been practicing today due to a combination of shoulder and rib issues.
"KaVontae Turpin is not practicing as he deals with shoulder/rib issue. Deuce Vaughn worked as punt returner. Vaughn, Rico Dowdle and Juanyeh Thomas worked as kick returners," Archer wrote.
Turpin has only seven catches for 69 yard, but two of them have resulted in touchdowns. Turpin has 66 more rushing yards on the ground and another touchdown in just seven carries.

Dallas Cowboys' offense and defense are both ranked in the top 10, but neither was enough to help them beat the Philadelphia Eagles last week.
The Cowboys have three big games against the Panthers, Giants and Commanders in November, which will help them get back on track to winning the division before December.
- ESPN Has Proposed A Cowboys, Broncos Quarterback Trade
by newsll
Trey Lance could be moving again.
Bill Barnwell of ESPN reports that the former number 3 pick could be exactly what the Denver Broncos are looking for as they look to get out from under Russell Wilson's contract. The Denver Broncos may be looking to trade up from the No. 3 pick in order to avoid the Russell Wilson deal.
Would the Cowboys part with Lance only weeks after they acquired him for a 4th-round selection? It would be a good idea if they could get a linebacker that will help them compete to win the NFC's top seed and get a portion of their draft capital back. Lance is third in the Dallas quarterback depth chart. The team may bluff that it won't sign Dak Prescott for an extension, but they will. This will end Lance's chances of getting a start.
Sean Payton and the Broncos would see Lance as a long-term project, and perhaps a replacement for Russell Wilson if they grow tired of him. Lance could be ready to play as soon as the 2023 season. His contract is a low-cost option with high potential for a team lacking both draft capital as well as cap space.
If you are the Broncos, and could use a young QB to develop behind Wilson's 34-year-old self, it's a question that's worth asking. Denver's offensive problems are unlikely to be solved by a young, developmental QB.
As they prepare to head to Arrowhead, the Broncos are looking to win their second consecutive game.

- Cowboys Trade Proposal Would Bring Panthers TE Hayden Hurst to Dallas
by newsll
After a 42-10 defeat, the Dallas Cowboys will have to start over. However, a trade could help them address their offensive problems. The talented tight end for the Carolina Panthers, is stuck on an uncompetitive team. Tight end is likely to be Dallas' No. 1 priority.
Cowboys' defeat to San Francisco 49ers is a clear indication that they need to improve. This offense was meant to be. On paper, the offensive line is one of the best in the NFL, but Dallas lacks talent like running back Tony Pollard or wide receiver CeeDee lamb.
Jake Ferguson, the tight end who is responsible for 175 yards of receiving and one touchdown in five games, is considered to be the "weak link " on the offensive. He has dropped three passes in five games. Luke Schoonmaker, a second-rounder, and Peyton Hendershot are also struggling to make an impression.
Hurst, a 30-year-old tightend with proven skills who can block, make receptions and find the endzone. He has just begun a three-year deal with the Panthers. However, Carolina is currently 0-5. They are on track to have one of the worst NFL records.
Hurst, who was the Baltimore Ravens's 25th overall selection in the NFL Draft of 2018, has played for several NFL teams throughout his career. Hurst spent just two years with the Baltimore Ravens before being traded to the Atlanta Falcons, where he had the best NFL season of his career.
Pro Football Reference reports that Hurst had 56 receptions, 571 yards of receiving and six touchdowns during 2020. Hurst had a good connection with Matt Ryan, the former Falcons quarterback. In his second year, Hurst's performance regressed. However, injuries hindered him and limited his season to only 221 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
Atlanta let Hurst go after his rookie contract expired in order to draft Kyle Pitts at the 2022 NFL Draft. Hurst then signed a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals, which led the former South Carolina Gamecocks to the AFC North.
Hurst was due for his first big payday, and he got it. Carolina paid him $21.5 million over three years. He was overdue for his first large payday. Carolina paid him $21.5 millions over three years, per .
It would be interesting to ask the Panthers if they are interested in a trade, because Hurst has just started his contract. However, it is clear that the Panthers have a long way to go as a team and will require a lot of draft capital to build a strong roster around Bryce Young.
The Cowboys can take advantage of this if they feel it would be more beneficial to acquire picks while creating more cap space. The Panthers are unlikely to be able to get a high-level pick for him. A Day 3 pick could do the trick.
Dallas is in a "win-now" mode and having Hurst as a tight end can be incredibly beneficial. Dallas still has Schoonmaker and Hendershot as depth and can platoon Jake Ferguson, but Hurst is a more experienced receiver who can provide more experience in a relatively young area of offense.
- Dallas Cowboys make critical decision on linebacker Leighton Vander Esch following injury
by newsll
According to Mike McCarthy, it was expected that the Dallas Cowboys would move starting linebacker Leighton Vander Esch from Injured Reserve to Injured reserve on Thursday. The veteran sustained a neck injury during Sunday's defeat to the San Francisco 49ers. An MRI confirmed that he will need some time to recover.
Vander Esch tallied 30 tackles in the first five games, including 17 solo stops. Vander Esch has recovered one fumble. He left the game on Sunday with 10 tackles including one for a loss.
Vander Esch is now in his sixth year with Dallas. He was a first-round pick out of Boise State. Last season, he missed three Cowboys games due to neck pain. In the same way, he missed seven games during the 2019 season.
The time he will lose is significant. The league requires that all IR players miss at least four weeks. The Cowboys will play the Rams, Eagles, and Giants in that time span.
Vander Esch signed a deal with the Cowboys for a two-year contract worth $11m in the offseason. This contract was signed in March, after he had spent the 2022 season on a 1-year deal. He had 90 tackles during the regular season in 2022. He had 20 stops, a sack, and six tackles-for-loss in the playoffs.
CJ Goodwin , cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys, tore his pectoral muscles in Sunday's defeat to the 49ers. Due to the injury, the star of special teams will miss the entire 2023 season. Goodwin signed an exclusive one-year contract with Dallas during the offseason.
The former California Vulcan is credited with four tackles this season, including the one he made in Sunday's game.
Goodwin signed a deal worth $3.5 million for two years to play the seasons of 2021 and 2022. In 2020 and 2021, he was the leader of special teams tackles for the team. He then had an eight-tackle year in 2022.
Goodwin is a native of West Virginia. He played college football for three different colleges before joining the Steelers in 2014 as a free undrafted agent. He signed a three-year deal for $1.53million with the Steelers, but was ultimately waived.
He is now in his eighth NFL season. He has worked for Pittsburgh, Atlanta Arizona, New York Cincinnati and San Francisco. His longest tenure was in Dallas. Goodwin began his Cowboys' career in 2018, playing in just three games. He became a regular in 2019.
