Dez Bryant Has Blockbuster Trade In Mind For The Cowboys by newsll
September 23, 2023 Dez Bryant, like all his fantasy football supporters, wants more for Kyle Pitts.
In Week 1, the Atlanta Falcons tight-end caught two of only three targets for a total of 44 yards. Bryant asked his former team to help Pitts.
Bryant shared a picture of Pitts with his arms wide open, but to no avail. He sent a message to the Dallas Cowboys.
"Get @kylepitts__ to Dallas please!!! This is unacceptable!!! He deserves better," Bryant wrote on the site now using his old X hand signal as a name.
Pitts was expected to be a star tight-end when Atlanta selected him as the No4. The highest pick ever for a tight end in NFL history. The team has not yet used him as such.
Pitts' 28-game career has seen him grab 98 passes for 1,426 yard and three touchdowns. Last season, the 6-foot-6 playmaker was targeted five times in the red zone.
Bryant responded to the original post, by deflecting blame from Falcons QB Desmond Ridder who "had nothing to do with play calls."
"Kyle Pitts is wasting generational talent inside a dysfunctional organization at the moment struggling to get him the ball," Bryant continued. "Get Pitts outta there and put him in a situation where he can thrive."
Dallas would be a great change of scene for the 22 year old. Dalton Schultz was a key player with Dak Prescott prior to joining the Houston Texans. The Cowboys are likely to use Pitts in more passing situations than they do the Falcons.
Jake Ferguson, Schultz’s replacement as the starting , nailed two of seven targets, gaining 11 yards, in a 40-0 thrashing by the New York Giants to open their season.
It seems unlikely that Atlanta would trade Pitts, despite his inability to maximize his potential. Maybe he will get more chances when the Falcons play the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Jerry Jones Explain Why He Didn’t Draft Eagles QB Jalen Hurts by newsll
August 27, 2023 This week, the Dallas Cowboys acquired Trey Lance. Jerry Jones said that he would select another quarterback of note in 2020 when discussing the trade.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, the Cowboys' owner stated that they would have selected a quarterback with Lance's quality if one was available. The fourth-round selection they sent San Francisco came from the Cowboys. Jones said they could have drafted Jalen hurts three years ago if he had lasted that long.
Jones stated, "It's our plan to get someone with the quality we want to be at the right place when our pick is made, but that rarely happens." "This one was successful, so we are excited."
Jones' claim seems a bit disingenuous based on the way in which the draft was conducted.
Trevon Diggs was the Cowboys' first-round pick. 51. It was probably too early to select a backup quarterback.
https://twitter.com/MySportsUpdate/status/1695823532595232952?s=20
The Philadelphia Eagles, however, snagged Hurts after two more picks. He would have had to be available until the No. 82.
It's good that the Eagles did not wait for another round. Hurts was runner-up to Patrick Mahomes for MVP last season and led Philadelphia to the Super Bowl. Hurts, 25, signed a 255-million-dollar extension in the offseason.
Hurts was a clear choice for the Cowboys, but Prescott's season-ending ankle injury could have given him an early opportunity in 2020. Dallas' selection of Hurts was never a high probability. It would have been an interesting butterfly-effect that could have changed the NFL landscape.
Cowboys Expected To Release Notable Quarterback by newsll
August 27, 2023 Friday, the Cowboys added some power to their quarterbacks' room by acquiring Trey Lance from the 49ers. Trey Lance, the 49ers' No. 3 pick, was acquired by the Cowboys on Friday.
Will Grier, the former West Virginia quarterback will be let go by the Cowboys now that Lance has joined a quarterback group that includes Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush.
According to David Moore, Dallas Morning Newsthe Cowboys are releasing Grier following their preseason finale with the Raiders.
Grier will be allowed to play in the Cowboys' preseason finale to show off his skills to rival teams.
https://twitter.com/NFL_DovKleiman/status/1695428767785574513?s=20
Grier was successful in 13 of 18 pass attempts last week against the Seahawks, resulting in 136 yards and an interception. In the first preseason game, Grier had 199 yards passing, two touchdowns, and an interception.
Grier began his NFL career as a third-round draft pick with the Panthers. He was a struggling rookie in 2019. He completed only 53.8 percent passes and threw four interceptions.
Grier has a limited time to prove he is able to be a reliable backup in the NFL. Hope his next stop is the best one for him.
BREAKING: Cowboys Wide Receiver Suffered Torn ACL At Practice by newsll
August 24, 2023 The Dallas Cowboys are fortunate that wide receivers are considered to be a strong position. However, the latest injury diagnosis will really test their depth.
Michael Gehlken of the Cowboys, an insider for the team, said that wide receiver David Durden had a torn anterior cruciate ligament after undergoing an MRI today. He's out for the near future.
Gehlken said that Durden's injury was the latest of a series of ACL tears suffered by the Cowboys. It appears that Durden is the third Cowboys rookie to have suffered an ACL tear on his left leg in the last five day.
Durden was not drafted by the NFL in 2023. Durden was named to the First-Team All-Conference three times, between West Florida and Mercer.

CeeDee lamb, Brandin cooks, and Michael Gallup are the top three wide-receivers for the Dallas Cowboys. The fourth and fifth slot will be a hotly contested position throughout the season.
David Durden may have to wait until the year 2024 before he can compete.
Jerry Jones Explains Why Jimmy Johnson Isn’t In Ring Of Honor Yet by newsll
August 24, 2023 Jerry Jones announced that DeMarcus Ware would be the next Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor inductee. Jimmy Johnson has been waiting for a long time to be inducted into the Ring of Honor.
According to Todd Archer of ESPN, the Cowboys' owner gave an odd reason as to why he selected Ware over Johnson.
"I think that it’s very important to realize this is DeMarcus’ time. This is his year," Jones said. "He’s a player. Jimmy’s not. OK? And so I wanted to put him in because it's him and I wanted to put a player in."
https://twitter.com/toddarcher/status/1694500308783657263?s=20
This raises some other questions. Why did Jones induct a football player and not a coach this year? Why did Jones say recently that he was considering other coaches beyond Johnson?
Jones presented it as a zero sum proposition in order to make the critics appear unreasonable for not supporting Ware. He can, however, induct two different people at different dates so that each person gets the attention they deserve.
Why did he think it was more important to honor Ware, who is 41 years old this year and make Johnson, 80 years old wait longer?
Jones announced that Johnson will be included in the Ring of Honor of his team on Aug. 5, 2021 without specifying a date. Jones has shifted the issue and refused to confirm the date he will recognize the two time Super Bowl champion.
Jones accused Johnson last year of "sniveling" over his exclusion.
Jones doesn't appear to be interested in granting Johnson the long-overdue Ring of Honor entry.
Breaking: Dallas Cowboys Expected To Trade Starting Wide Receiver by newsll
August 22, 2023 Dallas Cowboys have high expectations for the 2023 NFL season. The Cowboys' last season ended in disappointment after they lost to the San Francisco 49ers during the playoffs. The Cowboys, and their fans, expect to be back in the Super Bowl conversation by 2023. They have multiple stars leading their team on offense and defense. It is possible that they will trade away a starting wide receiver even before the season begins.
Michael Gallup has had a frustrating last two years after accumulating almost 2,500 yards and thirteen touchdowns in his first three seasons.
The 27-year old has been battling injuries and recorded back-to-back seasons of career lows for receiving yards, with 445 yards in 2021 and with 424 yards in 2022.
Brandin Cooks was traded by the Cowboys in the offseason to help them bolster their defense. Gallup's position with the Cowboys is in question. Patrik walker of the website pointed out that second-year wideout Jalbert Tolbert was emerging during training.
Gallup's value is also increasing because Dallas has two more options for a second or a third target after CeeDee lamb. He's also a team-friendly player as his contract runs through 2026, but also has a out clause after this season that increases his market value.
Gallup's two most recent seasons were less productive than his early career. Jalen Tolbert has been gaining in popularity this preseason. But a move such as this is a step in the wrong direction for an offensive that wants to be more successful in 2023. The Cowboys are one of the strongest wide receiver groups in football with a healthy Gallup. It may not be a good idea to change that.
Cowboys Expected to Release Promising WR as New Talent Shines by newsll
August 22, 2023 Dallas Cowboys are expected to trim their roster down to 53 players by August 29. One name that may be dropped is a wide receiver in which Dallas has made a significant investment. Simi Fehoko, a former Stanford Cardinals wide receiver who has been on the team for more than two years, is expected to be moved by the Cowboys.
Brandin Cooks' addition to the WRs has been a significant boost, but it also means that there is less room at the bottom for projects. Pro Football Network 's most recent 53-man roster predictions expect Dallas to drop Fehoko in favor of a group consisting of six wide receivers next week:
CeeDee lamb'
Brandin Cooks
Michael Gallup
Jalen Tolbert
KaVontae Turpin
Jalen Brooks
Gallup is getting a second chance because the Cowboys have committed to spending on him. Tolbert was a third round pick a year ago.
Turpin and Brooks may be the only two players where this is uncertain. However, both have additional skills (in Turpin's instance, he can return kicks and punts) which make them highly valuable to keep around.
Jalen Brooks is at the top of any list of names that could force Fehoko out. PFN describes Brooks' strong performance in camp. Brooks is willing to put in the hard work of being a wide receiver, as well as make eye-catching plays.
PFN's projection says that Brooks has a good chance of making the team if he continues to play like he is. Brooks' ability to create separation and run routes has also been noted.
Dallas Cowboys faced a 4th and-4 in their latest preseason matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. The Cowboys decided to go for it. They designed a play where Brooks would need to separate and make the catch. Brooks responded to the call.
Brooks is not guaranteed to make the 53-man roster, but he's impressing. The seventh-round draft pick did not enter Training Camp in high regard, but now he is gaining a great deal more respect.
Cooks could end up being better than the Cowboys hoped. Cooks' experience can be used to help his team win games and also improve their performance off the field.
Yahoo Sports Charles Robinson visited training camps in the NFL over the last few weeks. His main takeaway was Cooks' impact.
“Brandin Cooks is still fast as hell and immediately looked like an upgraded dimension in the offense. But one of the interesting things that a Cowboys source mentioned was that Cooks was so overwhelmingly professional from the second he walked through the door,” Robinson wrote. “The source said Cooks had been great at engaging with younger players on both sides of the ball and that he’s the kind of veteran you hope to have in a wide receivers room but don’t always get.”
Cooks' ability as a mentor to younger players could be a reason Brooks is performing better than expected. Dallas is looking to him to perform on the field, but Cowboys are lacking a veteran leader since Amari Cooper's departure.
Breaking: Cowboys Have Reportedly Lost 2 Players To Season-Ending Injuries by newsll
August 20, 2023 Every NFL team would like to avoid losing players due to injury during the preseason. It's not always possible to avoid injuries.
Dallas Cowboys are going through a tough time. According to Michael Gehlken, the Dallas Morning News, both rookie linebacker DeMarvion Overshown as well as first-year John Stephens tore their ACL during Saturday's preseason match against the Seattle Seahawks.
https://twitter.com/GehlkenNFL/status/1693356849578328490?s=20
Overshown, the third-round selection from Texas, injured his right knee during a tackle in the first quarter. He did not return to the field.
He made a big impression on his new squad during the off-season and training camp.
"He was climbing. He was climbing the charts," Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy said following Saturday's game. "He showed up right away in the offseason program, just his ability to fly around. Really has excellent command. So just hopeful. See how tomorrow goes."
https://twitter.com/clarencehilljr/status/1693191866400030747?s=20
Stephens was also a free agent from Louisiana who had caught the attention of staff members this summer.
He had caught five passes in Dallas's first preseason match for 56 yards, including a touchdown. Last night he made a six-yard reception before getting hurt.
On Saturday, the Cowboys will conclude their preseason schedule against the Las Vegas Raiders.
NFL Insider Reveals More Intel On Potential Cowboys Trade by newsll
August 19, 2023 In recent days, there has been a lot of trade talk centered about the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys Cowboys have a lot of depth at few positions as training camp is in full swing. One of these positions is the defensive line.
Dallas, however, would be in a strong position to make a deal. Dan Quinn doesn't have enough time. It is better to trade a player for draft capital than to cut them for nothing. The Cowboys have to navigate this situation as they try to determine how many defensive linemen they will keep.
Recent suggestions suggested that the Seattle Seahawks make a deal centered on Dorance Armstrong Jr. With a contract expiring and young players who need to be developed, Armstrong was a logical trade target.
A more recent update has put the idea to rest. According to Mike Fischer from Sports Illustrated, Seattle does not seem interested in a deal with Dallas.
“We think this is a silly idea – he’s a stud on an affordable contract. But Armstrong is out of contract after this season. So … are the Cowboys so deep at defensive end that they’d rather trade Armstrong (some have suggested a fourth-round pick) rather than play him in 2023 before letting him go free in 2023 … and then netting a pick not dissimilar to the one being gossiped about?
“ESPN’s Dan Graziano is among those suggesting ideas like this, the NFL insider citing Seattle as a potential trade partner. Problem: A source inside the Seahawks tells CowboysSI.com that Seattle is presently satisfied with its group.”
Last season, the Seahawks' defense was the only thing that prevented them from achieving their full potential. They seem to be confident that this group will turn things around for the 2023 season.
Armstrong, a fourth round pick of the Cowboys at the 2018 NFL Draft is coming off one of his best seasons as a professional. In 2022 he had 8.5 sacks, which was a career high after he only managed 5.0 in the previous year.
The Cowboys are reluctant to let go of this young pass rusher. However, it may be in their long-term best interest. In the weeks to come, with roster cuts not far away, it will be important to keep a close eye on this situation.
Mike McCarthy Reveals Micah Parsons’ Status After Tuesday’s Injury Scare by newsll
August 19, 2023 Micah Parsons, the All-Pro linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, is perhaps one of their most important players. After Parsons' injury scare, Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy wanted to reassure the public.
McCarthy told the media that Parsons was fine following the injury to his left leg he suffered yesterday. McCarthy made it clear to the media that Parsons is fine after the left leg injury he sustained yesterday.
McCarthy's statement is not a guarantee that it's the right thing to do. That's how the Cowboys fans feel right now.
Cowboys fans were pretty unanimous in their response to the statement: Parsons needs to rest for a bit, or until the games begin to have meaning.
https://twitter.com/jonmachota/status/1691863929243267239?s=20
"Tell him we don't need him today, talk a walk, well see him back at practice next week. I don't care if its just a papercut," one fan wrote in reply to Cowboys insider Jon Machota.
Another person wrote: "Sit him Down mike ."
A third person suggested, "He can sit down and wait until the 6th of September."
Parsons' scare was a minor setback for the Cowboys. You have to wonder, with less than a month left before the start of the season, how they will manage Parsons for the next couple weeks.
