Mike McCarthy’s latest Michael Gallup injury update will fire up Dak Prescott

The Dallas Cowboys’ WR room running thin with Michael Gallup still recovering after an ACL injury. On Wednesday, however, he made a huge step forward by practicing for the first-time since January. Mike McCarthy, the head coach, was also impressed by how the wideout looked. Via Michael Gehlken:

“Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said WR Michael Gallup (ACL) responded well after practicing Wednesday for first time since January. “I thought his workout was excellent, really, the past two days. …He has checked every box all the way along. …We are very encouraged by the work.”

Michael Gallup injured his ACL during the last game of 2021. He has been out of action ever since. The Cowboys have few options for quarterback Dak Prescott now that Amari Cooper has left for the Browns, and James Washington sustained a foot injury in the last month. Gallup’s return is huge for the offense.

He has just begun practicing again. Although it’s likely that he won’t play in a live match for a while, this is a promising update. He has been ruled out of Week 1. He’s unlikely to be available for Week 1.

Gallup caught 35 passes for 445 yards, two touchdowns and an average of 12.7 yards for each reception last season. Gallup also missed the Wild Card Game in Dallas against San Francisco 49ers, where he could have been used.

CeeDee Lamb, Dalton Schultz will be able to score a lot of targets until Gallup is back in the mix.
