Cowboys Say They Investigated Draft Pick Allegations

The Dallas Cowboys selected Ole Miss pass rusher Sam Williams, in the second round in the 2022 NFL Draft in Las Vegas.

After being charged with sexual battery, Williams, a well-known pass rusher, was expelled from Ole Miss in 2020. The charges were dropped later and Williams was allowed to return to the team.

Jerry Jones, Cowboys owner, addressed allegations against his second round NFL Draft pick.

Jones stated that the team had thoroughly investigated the allegations to make the selection and is happy with it.

“A pass rusher is a premium. A pressure player is a premium,” Jones said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “First and foremost, he’s a terrific player and a potential terrific pro as a player. He has a lot of energy, a lot of personality. We think that is a real positive for his play as well as the people around him. He brings a lot to the table. We thoroughly investigated those allegations and are completely satisfied that those are well within our comfort level.”

After Randy Gregory’s loss to the Denver Broncos, the Cowboys need some pass rushers.
