Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy Handed Hefty Fine From The NFL

Mike McCarthy, Dallas Cowboys’ head coach, was once again fined. McCarthy was penalized $50,000 last year for his practices. This year, it has been doubled. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, McCarthy was fined $100,000. The Cowboys also lost an organized team activity in 2023.

These are not the Cowboys news fans expected to hear, especially since minicamp just finished.

Training camp is just around the corner, and it’s clear that those physical practices are going to be intense. Only 6-7 weeks remain before the season begins.

We will have to wait and see if McCarthy learns from his mistakes.

According to ESPN’s Todd Archer , the Dallas Cowboys will be without OTAs for one day next year because they violated the NFL’s collective bargaining agreements.

Dallas took part in physical exercises during OTAs this season, which the CBA prohibits teams from conducting. Mike McCarthy, Cowboys’ coach, will also be fined $100,000

This is the second consecutive year that the Cowboys have violated the league’s CBA regarding physical practices. According to ProFootballTalk , last year the team was fined $100,000 and McCarthy had to pay $50,000. Dallas lost a day this offseason due to OTAs.

This news comes just two days after the Cowboys cancelled their mandatory minicamp. According to Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News, McCarthy cancelled practice Wednesday so that the team could take part in a “dynamic event.” The players then went to Topgolf. The Cowboys cancelled Thursday’s minicamp, ending their offseason program.
