Phil Simms: There Isn’t “Huge Drop-Off” From Dak Prescott To Cooper Rush

Phil Simms, a former Giants quarterback, made an absurd claim regarding the Cowboys in the latest episode on Inside the NFL.

Simms stated that there will be no major drop-off in Dak Prescott’s play now that Cooper Rush is the Dallas starting quarterback.

Simms stated that Cooper Rush is a strong player with a great arm and has the experience to lead the team to victory last year. He can make plays. “There won’t be a big drop-off for me.”

Julian Edelman completely disagreed with Simms’ view, responding, “Who are Cooper Rush?” They’re [the Cowboys] done.”

Edelman’s response didn’t seem to have any effect on Simms.

“A quarterback change will bring new life. They know they have to protect him, play different and play better,” Simms added. “Look for the Dallas offense to take it away from Cooper Rush, run the football and make him a bit player instead of the main focus.”

Rush was the Cowboys’ starting quarterback in Week 8 of 2021. He completed 60 percent of his passes, for 325 yards and two touchdowns.

Rush would be a great performer for the Cowboys when they take on the Bengals this Sunday.

Kickoff for the Bengals – Cowboys game takes place at 4:25 pm. ET on CBS
