Patrick Mahomes shares strong words on a Chiefs WR after preseason matchup vs. Bears

In the preseason road game against the Chicago Bears the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t have it all. They scored 14 points and gained 205 yards. Justin Watson performed really well in his first game with the reigning AFC West champions.

Watson was targeted six more times during the game. He ended up with five receptions and 45 receiving yards. before the end of the second quarter, Watson hauled in a receiving touchdown which gave Kansas City a 14-0 lead.

It was not surprising that Watson scored such a critical receiving touchdown from Patrick Mahomes’ perspective. Mahomes mentioned in his post game press conference that Watson has been showing his potential as an excellent wideout since his time with the Chiefs.

“You’ve seen it all training camp, and I saw it all OTAs,” Mahomes said. “He can fly, he’s a bigger guy and can make those tough catches. … It’s good to see him not only show his speed but be able to make those tough catches across the middle of the field and get into the end zone.”

After a four-season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Watson signed a one year deal with the Chiefs in February. Since then, Watson has been striving to be a Chiefs wide receiver in the depth chart. Next week, Watson will get another chance to impress the coaches in the preseason home game against Washington Commanders.
