Mike McCarthy Provide Updates on Cowboys WR Amari Cooper’s Injury

Mike McCarthy opens up about Amari Cooper’s injury

Over the last three practices, Amari Cooper has not participated and that could be a problem.

Cooper recently signed a five-year extension with the Dallas Cowboys after posting another 1,000-yard season. However, owner Jerry Jones said that his lack of participation is not an issue.

According to Jones, the team’s medical staff has it under control.

“We have some of the most sophisticated health measuring systems in place,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. “And, so, some of them are as sophisticated as they can tell you how you’re literally, in layman’s terms, how your muscles are firing.”

According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, head coach Mike McCarthy had similar comments.

“Amari Cooper hasn’t participated in teamwork during the last three practices,” said Werder via Twitter. “Mike McCarthy when asked if Cooper has any injuries: “It’s training camp, everybody has a little something. … I feel very good about where Amari is at.”

Jones cited that this was more of a precautionary measure.

“If you’ve got a player that maybe has been tearing their — just been tearing it up and has been performing at an extraordinary level for him or his measurables in the background, you pull him back some because those are times you could be vulnerable to a pull. That’s come into play.”

Cooper has some lofty goals for the team’s receiving corps, which includes Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb. Last week, the Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl wideout announced that the team will have three 1,000-yard receivers this season. Last year, Cooper and Gallup surpassed the mark.

However, that is not going to happen if Cooper does not take the field. The Cowboys open the season on September 13th against the Los Angeles Rams.
