Mel Kiper has the Chiefs taking this RB in the first round

It just seems like the Kansas City Chiefs get better every day.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper released his latest mock draft and the Chiefs just continue to reap the rewards from their stellar roster. The Chiefs already have the best quarterback in the league, a competitive defense, and one of the best head coaches in the game.

If bringing back 20 of the team’s 22 starters wasn’t enough, the Chiefs are going to cash in on the 2020 NFL Draft.

According to Kiper, the fans in Kansas City can continue to rejoice. Kiper believes the Chiefs are going to take running back D’Andrew Swift out of Georgia.

Swift is considered the best running back in the draft class, which includes Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins.

As for Swift, he has crazy speed. At the NFL Combine, Swift ran a 4.49-second, 40-yard dash. He also generates immediate offense and would provide a nice option alongside Damien Williams.

In 2019, Swift ran for 1,218 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. He added 24 receptions for 216 receiving yards as well. He possesses one-cut ability with a downfield speed that can hamper opposing team’s defenses.

If the Chiefs go away from Kiper’s pick, the team is also linked to Dobbins.

NFL Insider Field Yates was one that supported the pick and reported the Chiefs have made contact with the running back.

“One position that some believe would be worth even more investment on offense for the Chiefs would be running back. A pairing that seems to make sense is Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins if he’s available at pick 32. He’s a player they’ve FaceTimed with. One of the draft’s top backs.”

Dobbins rushed for 2,003 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2019. The Chiefs have Damien Williams listed as the No. 1 running back, but haven’t had a clear face at the position since Kareem Hunt departed.

Both are clearly upgrades at the position.
