Cowboys Terminate New Signing Before Thanksgiving Game

According to Michael Gehlken, an NFL insider, the Dallas Cowboys released Lirim Hajrullahu, a 31-year old kicker from their practice squad.

This is in response to Greg Zuerlein’s solid Week 11 performance after his return from COVID-19/reserve.

Hajrullahu was the Cowboys’ starting kicker after Zuerlein was injured in Week 10. He was able to score 5/5 extra points in a win over the Atlanta Falcons and did not attempt any field goals.

Zuerlein began the 2021 season in a disappointing manner, losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He missed two field goals and scored one more point. The former All-Pro kicker is now 14-16 on field goals, and 19-20 on extra point.

Zuerlein was 3/3 on field goals during the Kansas City Chiefs’ loss. One of those was from 48 yards away.

Hajrullahu, in addition to his Canadian Football League playing career, also spent time on the Los Angeles Rams’s and Carolina Panthers’ practice rosters before joining Cowboys earlier in the year. He made his first appearance in the NFL during Week 10.

Zuerlein, who was released by Hajrullahu is now the Cowboys’ only kicker.

In a Thanksgiving Day matchup, Dallas will take on the Las Vegas Raiders.
