Cowboys dealing with potential Micah Parsons absence for Week 3 vs. Giants

The Dallas Cowboys are looking to win their second consecutive season-opening game against the New York Giants on Monday night. Micah Parsons, the star defender, could be out for Monday night.

Officially, the linebacker has been listed as questionable because he missed practice on Thursday and Friday. He participated in limited walkthroughs on Saturday. Via Mike Garofolo

“Cowboys list LB Micah Parsons (illness) and TE Dalton Schultz as questionable for Monday vs Giants. Both players were limited today (participation estimate because it was only a walkthrough) after missing practice the last two days.”

Dalton Schultz, a tight end, is also in doubt. Parsons’ absence will certainly impact a Cowboys defense which heavily relies on him from Penn State. He is already considered to be one of the top defenders in the NFL. Parsons is not suffering from a serious illness.

He still has a few days to recuperate and should be back on track. Although the Giants have a perfect 2-0 record, their offense isn’t great at all. They average 20 points per game.

Parsons has already collected four sacks for the Cowboys this season, defeating Joe Burrow twice last Week in a 20-17 win. Parsons has also been tackled for loss four times.

Parsons will not be able to play on Monday, unless he is truly ill. The LB could still fit in even if he hasn’t practiced much the week before.

We will see what happens when MNF comes out. East Rutherford’s kick-off time is 8:15 ET.
