Dallas Cowboys Informed 2 Players They Will Be released

After receiving a sixth-round pick for Everson Griffen, the Dallas Cowboys appear to not be done.

The NFL Trade Deadline is on November 3rd and the team looks to be ready to spend this next week in the midst of a firesale. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Cowboys have informed that defensive lineman Dontari Poe and cornerback Daryl Worley are on the trade block.

“The Cowboys have informed DT Dontari Poe and CB Daryl Worley they’ll be released if Dallas can’t trade them today,” Pelissero reported. “Big changes continue for Dallas D.”

The Cowboys are trying to regain some form of compensation to rebuild the team’s defense. The defense is the worst-rated scoring defense in the league. The Cowboys have allowed 30 or more points in five of the seven games this season.

Poe and Worley at least received the courtesy of being notified. According to some reports, Griffen was never even told.

According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, Griffen “has not heard Dallas is looking to trade him.”

“Just got off the phone w/ #Cowboys DE Everson Griffen regarding new report he’s available in a trade: “I don’t think the #Cowboys want to trade me. I haven’t heard that.” Meanwhile, I’m also told via source, “(The team hasn’t) shopped him officially. People have asked about him.”

After 10 seasons with the Vikings, Griffen was let go. In seven games with the Cowboys, he has 20 tackles and 2.5 sacks as a backup.

Despite falling to 2-5 after their 25-3 loss to the Washington Football Team on Sunday, the Cowboys trail the 2-4-1 Philadelphia Eagles by 0.5 games. Not to mention, the Cowboys could take sole possession of first place with a win over the Eagles next week.
