This Chiefs-Jaguars trade could make the Kansas City Chiefs unstoppable

The Jacksonville Jaguars could make the Kansas City Chiefs unstoppable.

According to ProFootballTalk, running back Leonard Fournette is on the trade market. The former No. 4 overall pick from 2017 will make $4.1 million in 2020 and is growing frustrated with the team’s future.

After making the AFC Championship in 2017, the Jaguars have spiraled down. Fournette is coming off a solid 2019, which featured 1,152 rushing yards and 522 receiving yards. However, his locker room presence has been cited as being a “pain in the ass.”

To be fair, the Jaguars traded away Jalen Ramsey, Calais Campbell, and have watched Yannick Ngakoue destroy the team on social media. After rushing for over 1,000 yards in two of his first three seasons, he has a right to be upset.

The Chiefs are one that should have an interest. Although Damien Williams played well, the Chiefs lack a true threat at running back to balance the offense. LeSean McCoy has fallen out of favor, while draft experts have linked the Chiefs to D’Andre Swift and JK Dobbins.

Fournette is a proven running back that already has ties to Chiefs players. Safety Tyrann Mathieu played at LSU, just like Fournette. If any teammate can help Fournette get in the right direction, it’s Mathieu, who knows all about ups and downs.

Playing $4.1 million for a guy that generated 1,674 yards from scrimmage should garner plenty of interest. The Chiefs only have five picks in this year’s draft. It would likely cost a middle round pick, plus additional compensation. The Chiefs could take a risk and deal a first-round pick with hopes of re-signing him, similar to what the Cowboys did with Amari Cooper.

Who knows? Maybe, the Jaguars would rather hold onto him just to keep the Chiefs grounded.
