Contract negotiations between Dalton Schultz, a tight end, and the Dallas Cowboys seem dead.
A report claims that Schultz and Cowboys are not in agreement on a long-term deal.
Even worse, Friday is also the last day that players and teams with the tag are allowed to sign new contracts.
According to Josina Anderson (an NFL insider), it all boils down to numbers. The Cowboys won’t pay Schultz what he want.

A league source informed me that #CowboysTE Dalton Schultz (team) and the league are not currently in agreement regarding a long-term contract on today’s deadline for players with the tag. Anderson was told by a source.
This is, in simple words, a disappointing result for everyone involved.
Schultz was one of the league’s top receivers last season. He caught 78 passes for 808 yards, eight touchdowns and was named as one of the league’s best at his position.
Schultz will likely play a bigger role in the Cowboys’ offense during the upcoming season. Amari Cooper was traded to the NFC East earlier in this offseason.
This could be Schultz’s last season playing for America’s Team.
