Dak Prescott is on the mend and should be able to resume his role as Dallas Cowboys’ starting quarterback once he’s fully recovered. If backup Cooper Rush plays well, does Jerry Jones’ calculus change?
Jones, who was on 105.3 The Fan Dallas, made it clear that Rush’s continued success doesn’t change anything. Jones joked that it would only let him know that Rush’s continued success does not change anything.
“No,” Jones said. “All it does is tell me that we’re in great shape at the QB position.”
Rush is now 2-0 in his two starts, both against solid teams like the Cincinnati Bengals or New York Giants. Rush isn’t being paid $160 million by the Cowboys.

Cooper Rush is not the only one responsible for the Dallas Cowboys’ two recent wins. He’s completed 64.5 percent of his passes in his two starts, which is a respectable feat considering he has thrown for 450 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Cowboys defense ranks 8th in the NFL, allowing only 529 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air.
We should not forget that neither Rush nor Dak Prescott were able score a touchdown in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, so it’s not as if they play very differently under the same circumstances.
Cooper Rush has a chance of retaining the job.
